Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors is a celebration of the legendary Japanese artist’s sixty-five-year career and promises to be one of 2017s essential art experiences. It sure was and I FINALLY got tickets to see it at DC’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden!!! A must see, and it’s here until May!
How To Get Tickets:
- Your best chances are to get Same Day Tickets during a week day and arrive at least 1 hour before they open. *Make sure you’re available any time that day, as tickets are timed for specific slots and the earlier times get snatched up fast.
- On weekends, definitely get there 2 hours before they open as the line starts to form. (I learned this the hard way on my first attempt on getting the tickets.)
- Bribe or ask the people already in line, seriously! Each person is allowed 4 tickets. If they aren’t going to use all 4 tickets, why not ask?!?! My first attempt, we made friends with a couple in line. His girlfriend was trying to stay warm near the front of the line and luckily got two ticket that someone just gave away because they couldn’t make the slotted time. Her boyfriend was standing in line behind us, and we were 20 or so people away before they called “sorry we are all out of tickets today”.
- You can try your luck online for the Free Timed Passes. They release every Monday, but like so many others that tried, I did not have much luck. Their site just isn’t equipped for the amount of traffic that comes through.
