I’ve recently gotten into hand lettering and calligraphy quotes. I became inspired by a post from a friend about her latest hand written quote. My eagerness to learn soon consumed me and I had to know how she got started, the tools she used, and any tips and tricks for beginners. Here’s one of her sample pieces @amelancholyowl:

My friend recommended the Tombow Dual Brush Pen Art Markers, Bright, 10-Pack. I really like them and they’re very easy to use, especially for beginners. They create bold strokes and make for big lettering.

Ready, Set, Go!
Once you’ve gathered your materials to look like a boss, get to it and start practicing! I began with youtube video tutorials and people from instagram ✍
***The most important take away in practicing and understanding how to use your pens/brushes is this video: going light and gliding your pen on upstrokes and pressing down on your downstrokes.***
